About Harrison College

Harrison College is a highly respected family-owned educational institution, with 12 campuses throughout Indiana and Ohio, a culinary school, and Online Studies offered to anyone in the world.

Situation

Harrison College currently utilizes Cisco IP Telephony built on Cisco Unified Communications Manager version 8.5 with all types of gateway interfaces (PRI, SIP, H.323, MGCP) and multifunctional devices with faxing capabilities. To meet its growing demand for simplicity in fax device management and to improve users’ experience when faxing, the Harrison College management was looking for an enterprise fax solution.

Solution

2Ring NetFAX was selected by Harrison College because it was a perfect fit for its business as well as technical needs.

The choice of 2Ring NetFAX ensures a very fast return on the initial investment since NetFAX can be deployed as a virtual machine, its server components run on an open-sourced Linux platform and NetFAX utilizes existing Cisco infrastructure that Harrison already has in place. 2Ring NetFAX is a platform that improves the college’s operations by lowering the IT department's fax management load, decreasing Telco expenses, and last but not least, reducing paper consumption. About the green aspect of 2Ring NetFAX (Business Fax Solution), Rick Purnell, 2Ring National Account Manager, says, “In addition to the faxing functionality, we gave the college the ability to centralize its fax process management and save our planet a little.”

NetFAX also met the technical requirements of the college’s IT department, such as the ability to communicate with different gateways by negotiating centrally through the CUCM, and a central web-based administration without the installation of any components on the administrators and users’ desktops.

2Ring NetFAX addressed Harrison College’s need for a complex but easy to use fax solution for all of its campuses. The college’s IT department is already deploying another improvement - routing faxes from multifunctional devices through the NetFAX server to continue in the VoIP simplification and continually improve the user experience.

DELIVERABLES
  • 2Ring NetFAX decreased Harrison College’s Telco expenses and made life of IT personnel easier.
  • At the same time, NetFAX helped to reduce paper consumption which contributes to the saving of our environment.
  • The main advantage for users is that all faxes can be managed right from their desks, workstations, notebooks and tablets.

To sum up, the NetFAX deployment at Harrison College is a very successful breakthrough for 2Ring in the educational sector. This will supercharge the very successful activities of 2Ring in building strong partnerships with business partners in both the United States and Canada. Kelvin Bodie

Sr. Network Engineer at Harrison College

“We decided on 2Ring NetFAX because we can manage faxes right from our desks, plus users can now send their faxes from their workstation, notebooks, and tablets. Also, thanks to virtualization, we did not need to purchase any new hardware. 2Ring’s software updaters were very responsive, I mean they completed our requests overnight - you request it in the evening and you have it the next morning. It was just a wonderful experience.”
